Founded in 2005, J.A. Media specializes in film and TV financing, production, distribution and artiste management. Its vision is to be much more than another production outlet, but a full-fledged entertainment company targeting the global film arena.

J.A. first forayed into TV with the phenomenal drama series “Surviving Laborers”, which swiftly topped the national ratings in that time slot. The company then remade two classic martial arts serials back-to-back: “Huo Yuanjia”, the acclaimed serial in late 2007 that starred Ekin Cheng, as well as “Chen Zhen” with Jordan Chan, currently in post production with impressive world pre-sales.

From small screen to silver screen, J.A. refers to the sophisticated business structure of the Hong Kong film industry, and taps into the region’s talent pool of cineastes for the company. It collaborates with award-winning director Stanley Kwan as J.A.’s artistic consultant, then with renowned producer Nansun Shi and distribution expert Jeffrey Chan as its distribution consultants. J.A.’s film production, distribution and marketing teams are equally dynamic, comprising members from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan and the U.S..

Cannes 2007 marked J.A.’s official calling card to the global film industry, as it announced a series of collaborations with iconic directors such as Stanley Kwan and Tsui Hark.

It currently has four exciting film projects in the pipeline: the teen romance drama “Miao Miao”, co-produced with Wong Kar-wai’s Jettone and produced by Stanley Kwan and Jacky Pang; “Jump”, the action comedy with an original story by Stephen Chow and helmed by Stephen Fung; “She Ain’t Mean”, the romantic comedy from Tsui Hark and written by Korean writer-director Kwak Jae-yong is lensing in Beijing. Last but not least, “He Is, He Isn’t” is the latest project by Stanley Kwan.

On the TV side, J.A. joins hands with major stations and production companies, to produce quality drama serials that attain both aesthetics and acclaims. Upcoming series, such as “The Great Repatriation”, “Driven to Tears”, “Qiao Long Biao”, are currently in production.

J.A. believes that it’s possible to make high quality productions on sensible budgets and make reasonable profits. It is dedicated to be a driving force in contemporary Chinese entertainment.
